God’s Mercy and Yours

The Dominicans in Edinburgh recently hosted a conference entitled ‘God’s Mercy and Yours’. The conference was well attended by all the different branches of the Dominican family, and there was a series of excellent speakers.

The Conference included the premier of the film ‘Becoming Dominic’, made by Graham Pritz-Bennett, about the community at St. Albert’s in Edinburgh and the statue of St. Dominic which they recently commissioned and installed.

There were 6 speakers:

  • Catherine Wallis-Hughes: Mercy in the thought of St. Thomas
  • Dr. Duncan MacLaren KSCG: Mercy and the Importance of Human Rights in the Dominican Tradition
  • Fr. Philippe Denis OP: The Search for Forgiveness and Reconciliation. Lessons from S. Africa and Rwanda
  • Sr. Terry Billington OP: Mercy and Justice in the care of the Disabled at St. Rose’s
  • Sr. Karen D’Artois OP: Driven Forward in Hope
  • Fr. Paul Murray OP: Truth, Joy and the Cross: the Character of Mercy in the Dominican Tradition

All the talks were recorded and will shortly be made available on Radio Maria.

The conference also included Mass at St. Patrick’s, Cowgate, sung Vespers in the Conference hall, and plenty of opportunities to socialise.

Many thanks to fr. Dermot and all those involved in organising the event.
