Conchita with her beloved dog, Alfie, friends and Lay Doinicans, on the CAFOD Big Walk, 23rd March 2024
Conchita
You were the most amazing person. You made it so much easier for me to blend into the Plymouth scene when I moved up from Cornwall. Every time I went to a meeting or seminar you would be there to say “hi” and have a chat with me. Your enthusiasm for life and the joy you exuded flooded out from you and inspired all around you.
It was a delight to travel up with you to the Oxford Fraternity meetings every month. It was quite a commitment but you made it fun. Then we had the joy of becoming the Tamar Fraternal Group. You were the Founder of our Group and we all owe you a debt of gratitude. I am sure it was the Holy Spirit that prompted you to attend a talk by Father Timothy Radcliffe (as he then was). He certainly inspired you to become a Lay Dominican and build a Dominican presence in Devon and Cornwall. What a legacy!
It was a great day when we received confirmation that the Tamar Group had fulfilled the requirements to become a full Lay Dominican Fraternity.
Conchita, we will never forget you. You were an inspiration to us and you will always be remembered in the Tamar Fraternity. I pray that we shall be able to carry on sharing the Gospel message and the joy of Dominican life as you showed us so well.
God Bless you Conchita.

Conchita
Conchita will also be remembered and loved particularly by the Tamar Fraternity for the wonderful human being she was; kind, loving, supportive, stylish and creative as well as welcoming.
Conchita delighted us with a lot of her own creations, be that as a painting, sculpture, pottery, ceramics and mosaic work as well as needlecraft.
Conchita loved the outdoors; walks in the Cornish countryside and along the beaches with her Sprocker, Alife, as well as sea swimming and cycling.
A strong supporter of CAFOD, Medicine Sans Frontier and the rights of girls and women to receive an education, she lit up any room and people naturally gravitated towards her.
We valued learning of her journey to become a Lay Dominican, her leadership as our Founder and her time as our President, as well as her commitment and enthusiasm for her faith and St Dominic which she was always happy to share.
Thank you for your legacy Conchita; we thank The Lord for you.
Rest in Peace and Rise in Glory.
